PISTON SETS
There are differences in the pistons used in various Volkswagens. The differences are in width of rings, diameter of piston pins, and height of pin from top of piston. We sell complete sets of pistons and if you buy a complete set you should have no problems. We also sell individual used pistons. A used piston properly checked can provide a good and inexpensive solution to a damaged piston. If you are buying only one piston, send in or bring in your damaged piston for comparison; it helps us select the correct one. Always check new parts against old before installing.
Our New Piston sets are complete with rings, pins and clips; a balanced set made by major OEM manufacturers.

INTERMEDIATE SHAFT BEARINGS
We sell new-style bearings that require no reaming!
This is great for the shade tree mechanic, as the reaming process usually costs $40-75 at a machine shop, if they even have the special, big-size reamers at all!! These bearings should be replaced during every engine rebuild, as they contribute to internal engine noise and low oil pressure. Simply tap the old ones out, then carefully align and press the new ones in. You can do it all yourself and avoid paying high machine-shop fees!

Magnetic Oil Drain Plug
You may be wondering why is this drain plug in the middle of the engine rebuild section? Well, if you're rebuilding your engine, chances are:
B) Some machine work has been done on the block
C) Both of the above--No matter how careful you or your machinist/engine builder may have been, it's still likely you will have metal shavings circulating around in your freshly rebuilt engine. Don't take chances. Install this magnetic drain plug before you start your engine for the first time!
