Vanagon Exhaust systems are very complicated. Replacing the stock system from the heat exchangers out, can cost over $1,800. We have some options for you. These options replace the factory muffler with a muffler and/or exhaust system that does the job and costs a lot less. (These systems may alter things so they are sold for off the road uses which will never be used on the highway)
Vanagon '79 1/2 thru 83
We have 2 low cost solutions for the Vanagon. The first uses a High Performance Replacement Muffler for Vanagon. The 2nd uses a Stock in Europe design muffler. These mufflers bolt right on the heat exchangers and replaces hundreds of dollars worth of pipes, cross-over pipes, etc., used on the Vanagon air-cooled engine.

The Engine Compartment Seal
is important to cooling and long engine life. It seals between the engine and the engine compartment. It keeps the engine from sucking the hot air up over your muffler and then trying to cool the engine with this heated air. Vanagon (All) Economical (This was OEM on early factory models. It works fine).
