Do-it-Yourself Tip

The VW Beetle shifter coupling connects the main shifter rod to the transmission selector shaft. While you are working on repairing your Beetle shifter, change your main shaft bushing and the attachment clip. Now you will have all new shifter components and a smooth transmission.
